11

A.D. Henderson University School 6th grader Anya Gupta recently  published her second children's book in her youth environmentalist series, Antarctic Adventures.

Gupta's latest book, Anya the Penguin Protector and the Big Iceberg Meltdown , illuminates the issues of climate change and plastic pollution while teaching readers how to protect penguins and ocean animals around the world. Anya's books have impacted countless lives and spread awareness regarding penguin research and rescue. You can find all the Antarctic Adventures  series books at  Gumbo Limbo Nature Center  and the  Pennies for Penguins online shop .

Anya is a two-time Youth Ocean Conservation Summit grant awardee from Mote Marine Laboratory, a recipient of the Sea World Youth Environmental Excellence Award, and an Exploravision National Science Competition award winner. Her grant awards and writing have allowed her to partner with various local organizations to host beach clean-ups and further affect environmental change in our local community.

This Earth Day, Pennies for Penguins is teaming up with Veggie Vero to host a beach clean-up on Deerfield Beach. Following the clean-up, Anya and Veronica will discuss and create awareness of the impact of plastic on our oceans.
