Donna Klein Jewish Academy issued the following announcement on May 22.
Last week our third-grade students ended their history unit on immigration with an Ellis Island Experience Day. Students dressed up in what they imagined their ancestors might have worn and rotated through stations representing the Ellis Island Welcome Station, the Registry, a Medical Inspection, and Legal Entry. Students also presented speeches on why they wanted to enter the United States.
At their final stop, they wrote to their families "back home" a postcard telling them about their experience and their hope for the future. This important program allowed students to share what they've learned in class in a memorable and engaging way. #WhyDKJA #DKJABoca
