Rep. Lois Frankel, a U.S. Congress member representing Florida’s 22nd District, has recently shared her perspectives on various pressing issues through social media. Her comments highlight concerns over child marriage in Iraq, the release of Israeli women soldiers, and the reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule.
On January 24, 2025, Rep. Frankel addressed the issue of child marriage in Iraq, stating that "Nine years old—that’s how young Iraqi girls can now be legally married." She emphasized that girls should be engaged in education and play rather than being forced into marriages that jeopardize their safety and fundamental rights.
The following day, January 25, she expressed relief over the release of four Israeli women soldiers. In her statement, she said "I celebrate the release of Karina, Daniella, Naama, and Liri, four young Israeli women soldiers..." Frankel extended her wishes for their recovery as they reunite with their families and communities.
Later on January 25, Rep. Frankel criticized the reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule by stating "The reinstatement of the Global Gag Rule is a cruel and dangerous step backward." She stressed that no woman should be denied healthcare choices regardless of her location.
