On October 12, 2022, the Community Redevelopment Agency and the City Council approved Resolution No. 2022-04-CRA and Ordinance No. 5616, allowing for a 94-year land lease for a performing arts center, The Center for Arts & Innovation (TCAI). The lease is for a 1.8-acre plot of land adjacent to, and including, the Mizner Park Amphitheater, at the north end of Mizner Park. The CRA owns the vacant land where the performing arts center is planned. The City owns the Amphitheater.
TCAI’s proposed plans for the site include a performing arts venue and event space, with the intent of providing a facility for local and other dance, theater, music and cultural organizations, as well as corporate, student and private functions. Plans also call for a remodel of the amphitheater, complete with a canopy.
Construction of the venue would commence following fundraising efforts, and is tentatively scheduled to start in 2026.
