American Heritage School - Boca/Delray recently issued the following announcement.
American Heritage School in Delray Beach, Florida is proud to recognize 21 students in the Class of 2020 who have been named Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). They were top scorers throughout the state of Florida on the Preliminary SAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). This puts American Heritage at the top in Palm Beach County for private schools with the highest number of National Merit Scholars.
Fourteen (14) additional AHS seniors received Commended status on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that is typically below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states. Commended students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, however, some students are candidates for scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
The National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) recognizes approximately 5,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors each year from among the more than 400,000 juniors who take the PSAT. Just like the National Merit Scholarship Program, NHRP uses the junior year PSAT/NMSQT as the qualifying test. American Heritage has 9 students selected to be National Hispanic Scholars.
