Florida Atlantic University’s beach volleyball players Klaire VanDeusen and Mia Scanlon were named the Conference USA Pair of the Week, according to a March 10 announcement from the league office.

This recognition is the first weekly honor for both VanDeusen and Scanlon in their collegiate careers, as well as the first such award for the Sandy Owls this season. The pair’s performance contributed to Florida Atlantic’s strong showing at the Chanticleer Challenge, where they helped lead the team to three wins out of four matches.

During the tournament, VanDeusen and Scanlon secured straight set victories over Tulane, Coastal Carolina, and Georgia State. They began with a win against Tulane at the number four position, taking sets 21-19 and 21-15. Later that day, they defeated Coastal Carolina at number three with identical set scores of 21-14. On Saturday, after a loss to No. 4 Cal Poly, they finished with another straight set win against Georgia State on court three.

The next event for Florida Atlantic Beach Volleyball will be hosting the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational on March 14-15 in Pompano Beach, Florida.
