The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 10 that Rene J. Perez, 38, has been arrested in connection with the death of Linda Campitelli, whose body was found on October 28, 2024, on the southbound shoulder of the 6100 block of Lyons Road.
Authorities said that an investigation determined Campitelli’s injuries were consistent with homicide. Detectives identified Perez as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. He was located in Miami and taken into custody before being transported to the Palm Beach County Jail. Perez faces charges of First Degree Murder with a Deadly Weapon and Tampering with Physical Evidence related to Campitelli’s death.
Perez is scheduled for his first court appearance on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a welfare check at approximately 10:20 p.m. on October 28 after reports of an unresponsive female outside a vehicle. Upon arrival, they pronounced Campitelli deceased at the scene.
