Data showed that Palm Beach County welcomed a total of 194,232 students at the time. Among them, Black students comprised 27.5% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the county. The most represented ethnicity was Hispanic, accounting for 37.8% of the students (73,406), followed by white students who made up 28.2% of the student population (54,686).
Among the two districts in Palm Beach County, School District of Palm Beach County recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year, with a total of 52,920 students, making up 27.6% of the school's total student body. This marks a 0.2% increase over 27.4% of Black students in the district during the previous school year.
Gov. DeSantis has approved an education budget of over $28 billion for the 2024-25 school year. The new budget includes more than $1 billion earmarked exclusively for teacher salaries to better address the teacher shortage the state faces.
According to the National Education Association (NEA), Florida ranks 50th in the U.S. in terms of teacher salaries, only ahead of West Virginia.
