Rolling Green Elementary School issued the following announcement on Dec. 11
School Food Service's 97 grab-and-go food distribution sites will be open on Tuesday, December 15 and Thursday, December 17.
However, all sites will be closed for Winter Break (December 20, 2020 – January 4, 2021) and will resume the Tuesday and Thursday distributions starting on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
In order to ensure that children have the food they need when distribution sites are closed, School Food Service will provide a pantry-style box with 16 days worth of food during grab-and-go distribution and during dismissal in select parent pickup lines on Thursday, December 17. Recipes are included with creative and delicious suggestions on how to use the box’s ingredients. Boxes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Beginning January 19, students attending school in person can receive snacks during dismissal, Monday through Friday. Starting January 22, weekend meal kits, including breakfast, lunch, suppers, and snacks will also be available during dismissal for students in in-person instruction. At this time, the boxes of fruits and vegetables will no longer be available after the Winter Break.
Students or parents who pick up meals on Tuesdays receive three days of breakfasts, lunches, suppers, and snacks per kit, and four days of breakfasts, lunches, suppers, and snacks per kit on Thursdays.
All children 18 years of age and younger, (22 and younger for ESE) are eligible for the free meals. Meals are available regardless of financial need and the child does not have to be enrolled in a District-operated school to receive the meals.
A child does not have to be present to pick up meals. However, one of the following forms of identification is required to receive meals at the food distribution sites: Student ID Badge, Student Barcode Letter (that can be found in your child’s student portal), Passport, Birth Certificate, or Library Card. The adult picking up the meals can also bring a picture that has themselves and the children for whom they are picking up food, in the photo.
Meals may contain allergens. Adults picking up the food are asked to be vigilant and ensure they do not take food if allergies may be a concern. Food should be refrigerated or discarded if not consumed upon receipt. For everyone's health and safety, a facial covering or mask is required when picking up meals at any school food distribution site.
