Princeton defeats Florida Atlantic women’s tennis team in Boca Raton

Florida Atlantic University’s women’s tennis team lost to Princeton University 4-1 on Sunday at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center in Boca Raton, Florida. This marks the Owls’ first home defeat since April 8, 2024, ending a streak that saw them win 12 of their last 13 matches at home. With this result, FAU’s season record stands at 3-5, while Princeton improves to 8-1.

The Owls made changes to their singles and doubles lineups for this match. In doubles play, Princeton secured victories on courts one and three to take the opening point. The teams then moved into singles competition.

Redshirt freshman Katrin Pavkova was able to win her singles match on court three in straight sets, finishing 6-2, 6-2 against Eva Elbaz of Princeton. However, the rest of the team could not overcome Princeton’s lead before the Tigers clinched overall victory with a final score of 4-1.

In other singles results: Bella Chhiv (Princeton) defeated Malika Amirgaliyeva (FAU) 6-1, 6-2; Pearlie Zhang (Princeton) beat Lucia Cassidy (FAU) 6-3, 7-5; Tsehay Driscoll (Princeton) won over Maya Shanok (FAU) by scores of 6-4 and 6-0. Matches involving Panna Bartha and Alexia Patru from FAU were unfinished when play concluded.

Looking ahead, FAU will travel to Tampa for matches from February 28 through March 1. The Owls are scheduled to face Charlotte in a neutral-site contest on February 28 before playing host South Florida on March 1 at 11 a.m., with livestream coverage available via Playsight.
