Florida Atlantic University’s men’s basketball team secured a narrow 77-76 overtime win against Charlotte on Sunday at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, with freshman Josiah Parker scoring the decisive basket in the final second.

The Owls, who have no seniors on their roster, honored their five team managers before the game. With this victory, Florida Atlantic improved to 17-13 overall and 9-8 in conference play, while Charlotte fell to 15-14 and 9-7. The result guarantees FAU a place in the upcoming 2026 American Conference Tournament.

The first half saw junior guard Kanaan Carlyle give FAU an early lead with consecutive three-pointers. Charlotte responded with a strong run but FAU managed to reduce the deficit through improved performance in turnovers, points in the paint, second-chance opportunities, and fast breaks. Despite these efforts, the Owls trailed by ten at halftime.

In the second half, both teams exchanged leads until FAU went on a significant run to regain control of the game. Sophomore forward Maxim Logue contributed notably during this period with perfect shooting from the field and key rebounds while wearing a protective face mask.

Late in regulation, Xander Pintelon hit his second three-pointer for FAU to put them ahead by three points. However, Charlotte’s Damoni Harrison tied it up with a late three-pointer, sending the contest into overtime.

Overtime was closely contested as well. After several lead changes and critical plays—including back-to-back layups from Parker—Charlotte briefly took a one-point lead with five seconds left following an offensive rebound and three-pointer. In response, FAU called timeout and set up Parker for what would be his game-winning layup with just 0.6 seconds remaining.

After the game:
“Carlyle once again led FAU in scoring, finishing with 19 points, while grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out four assists.
For the second consecutive game, Parker flirted with a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds, including his game-winner.
Logue was a team high +22, while recording his first double-double as an Owl, with 16 points and 10 rebounds, six of them being offensive.
Playing a team-high 42 minutes Niccolo Moretti recorded 11 points.
FAU held Charlotte to 26% from three.
The Owls had fewer turnovers and recorded 10 more points in the paint than the 49ers”

Florida Atlantic will finish its regular season on March 7 against Wichita State.
