The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 27 that Mitzy Mariel Farfan was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail following an investigation into an alleged scheme targeting individuals with immigration-related vulnerabilities.
Authorities said the investigation began on March 20 after reports surfaced that Farfan had falsely presented herself as either an immigration attorney or a court-affiliated individual. According to officials, she solicited payments from victims for immigration services but failed to provide any legitimate assistance.
Two victims told investigators they paid Farfan for help with their immigration cases. The sheriff’s office said Farfan intentionally delayed the process and even accompanied the victims to court despite not having the proper qualifications or intent to assist them. The financial loss reported by both victims exceeded $8,700.
Farfan was taken into custody on March 26 and faces charges related to her actions, according to the statement released by law enforcement.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about scams targeting vulnerable populations seeking legal assistance with immigration matters. Officials urge anyone who believes they may have been a victim of similar schemes to contact local authorities.
