Palm Beach County officials have announced the opening of cold weather shelters in response to a cold weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Miami. The advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures across Palm Beach County are expected to fall into the upper 30s to low 40s, with windchill values ranging from the low to mid-30s. In light of these conditions, the Palm Beach County Division of Emergency Management (DEM) has activated its Cold Weather Shelter Plan.

Two shelters will be available for those seeking protection from the cold: Belle Glade Transitional Shelter and Lake Village at the Glades at 341 NW 11th Street in Belle Glade, and The Westgate Park and Recreation Center at 3691 Oswego Avenue in West Palm Beach. Both locations will open their doors at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 23, and close at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Transportation assistance is being provided by Palm Tran Connection, which will start bus pickups along established routes at both 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. “For more information on the Cold Weather Shelter or bus pickups please go to Cold Weather Shelters,” officials stated.
