Junior Mark Havlicek has been recognized as the American Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, according to an announcement made by the league on Monday.

Havlicek currently holds a 5-1 record in dual matches this season. In the Owls’ recent win, he and his doubles partner Marek Pazdera, ranked No. 82 nationally, led their match 5-3 before Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) tied it at 5-5. Havlicek then held serve without a return from FGCU, and the pair broke serve without conceding a point to secure the doubles point for Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Both players also won their singles matches, contributing three points in FAU’s 4-1 victory.

The team is set to begin a four-match road trip starting Thursday, February 26 at UCF. The schedule continues with matches against UPenn in Tampa on Sunday, March 1; Tulsa in Tulsa on Tuesday, March 3; and Tulane in New Orleans on Thursday, March 5.

After the road series, FAU will host Utah State on March 10, Rice on March 13, Old Dominion on March 15, and East Tennessee State on March 18 at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.

“Junior Mark Havlicek has been named the American Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.”
