Lois Frankel, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 22nd District, recently shared her views on Twitter regarding the importance of press freedom and international aid. Frankel, who has served in Congress since 2013 after succeeding Allen West, highlighted significant issues concerning global media and aid policies.

On March 15, 2025, Frankel expressed concerns about the potential dismantling of the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM). She stated that “The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) promotes press freedom and counters disinformation worldwide. Dismantling it silences independent journalism, emboldens authoritarian regimes, and weakens democracy at home and abroad. We must defend the free press.”

In another tweet posted on the same day, she included a link without additional commentary: https://t.co/iumGAuW4xl.

Later that day, Frankel addressed concerns about USAID by stating that its dismantling would have severe consequences. She wrote, “Dismantling USAID isn’t just bad policy—it’s deadly. Cutting aid means more hunger, disease, and preventable deaths worldwide. This isn’t saving money; it’s costing lives. We must act now.”
