U.S. Representative Lois Frankel, who has represented Florida’s 22nd district in Congress since 2013, recently used her social media platform to address issues surrounding federal nutrition assistance and voting access.
On November 3, Frankel posted about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), stating: “Millions in Florida rely on SNAP to put food on the table. They need their full benefits. The Trump Admin has the power to fully fund SNAP, and must work to do so instead of leaving families in limbo.”
The following day, she commented on compliance with court directives regarding SNAP benefits: “Court orders are not suggestions. If this is true, the President is breaking the law, and millions of children will go to bed hungry because of this cruelty.” This post was made on November 4.
On November 5, Frankel addressed concerns over voting procedures: “Give it a rest! You don’t get to change the rules every time something doesn’t go your way. Vote-by-mail allows everyone–from our seniors to servicemembers to people with disabilities–to make their voice heard. It’s safe and secure–even Trump uses it.”
Frankel’s comments come amid ongoing national debates over both federal nutrition programs and election laws. As a long-serving member of Congress—having replaced Allen West in 2013—she brings experience from her prior tenure in the Florida House of Representatives from 1986 to 2002. Born in New York City in 1948 and currently residing in West Palm Beach, Frankel holds degrees from Boston University and Georgetown University.
