Lois Frankel, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 22nd district since 2013, recently shared her thoughts on several pressing issues through social media. Frankel, who has a background in law and politics, frequently uses her platform to address significant societal matters.
On June 18, 2025, Frankel commented on a judicial decision impacting transgender children. She expressed agreement with Justice Sotomayor’s perspective by stating that “this decision will cause untold harm to transgender children and the families who love them.” Frankel emphasized the importance of medical decisions being made between patients and their healthcare providers rather than being dictated by courts or politicians.
Two days later, on June 20, she commemorated Juneteenth by highlighting its significance as “a powerful reminder of strength, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice.” She urged continuous efforts to ensure America fulfills its promise of equality for all citizens.
Later that day, Frankel addressed layoffs at Voice of America (VOA), criticizing Trump’s team for dismissing over 600 journalists. She argued that “gutting VOA means silencing truth and handing power to propagandists,” emphasizing the critical role VOA plays in delivering news to over 350 million people weekly in regions lacking free press.
Born in New York City in 1948 and currently residing in West Palm Beach, Lois Frankel graduated from Boston University before earning a JD from Georgetown University. Her career includes service in both state and national legislatures.
