U.S. Representative Lois Frankel, who has represented Florida’s 22nd district in Congress since 2013, posted a series of statements on social media this week addressing topics ranging from union leadership to health care and public safety.
On January 6, 2026, Frankel expressed condolences for the passing of a prominent labor leader, stating, “I mourn the passing of Alphonso Mayfield, beloved FL Public Services Union President. His dedication & leadership improved the lives of countless union members across Florida. My deepest condolences are with his loved ones. May his memory be a blessing.”
Later that day, she commented on legislative priorities as Congress resumed session: “Headed back to Washington for another busy week! New year, new chance for Republicans to join Democrats to protect affordable health care for millions of Americans.” The statement reflects ongoing debates over health care policy at the federal level.
On January 8, Frankel addressed concerns about criminal justice and executive accountability: “The President was elected to take violent criminals off our streets—not to put them there. There must be an immediate investigation and full accountability.”
Frankel has served in Congress since defeating Allen West in 2013 and previously held office in the Florida House of Representatives from 1986 to 2002. Born in New York City in 1948 and now residing in West Palm Beach at age 74, Frankel holds degrees from Boston University and Georgetown University.
