Rep. Lois Frankel, U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 22nd district, addressed recent developments in Middle East hostages and the ongoing federal government shutdown in a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On October 13, 2025, Frankel announced the release of Israeli hostages from Gaza, stating, “After more than two years of devastating captivity, the twenty remaining living Israeli hostages were released from Gaza this morning. My full statement: https://t.co/jIpE8Hx1te”.
The following day, Frankel commented on the continued government shutdown and its impact on federal workers. On October 14, 2025, she wrote, “As the Republican shutdown drags on, Trump is targeting dedicated federal workers with illegal firings. They are not political pawns. I will continue to stand with our public servants and @HouseDemocrats will keep fighting to end this manufactured chaos.”
Later that day, Frankel highlighted the effects of the shutdown on American families and health care costs, posting, “We’re two weeks into the Republican shutdown, and families are paying the price while bracing for higher health care premiums. @HouseDemocrats are ready to reopen the government and protect affordable care. Republicans just need to show up and work with us.”
Frankel, who has served in Congress since 2013 after succeeding Allen West, previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1986 to 2002. Born in New York City in 1948, she currently resides in West Palm Beach. Frankel holds a BA from Boston University and a JD from Georgetown University.
