Florida Atlantic women’s track & field heads to Gainesville Indoor Classic ahead of postseason

The Florida Atlantic University women’s track and field team is set to compete in the Gainesville Indoor Classic on Friday, February 5. This marks the team’s third and final appearance in Gainesville during the indoor season before postseason events begin. The meet will start with the 400-meter dash at 10:45 a.m., and fans can watch live coverage on FloTrack.

Florida Atlantic will be joined by several other teams, including Ave Maria, Barry, Bethune-Cookman, Brewton-Parker, Columbia International, Eckerd, Embry-Riddle, Flagler, Florida Memorial, Florida Southern, Jacksonville, Keiser, Lake Sumter State, Mobile, North Florida, Saint Leo, SCAD Savannah, Southeastern, St. Thomas (Fla.), USC-Beaufort, UCF and Warner.

Reflecting on recent performances by the Owls’ athletes: “Camilla Nicholas had a great day in the 60-meter dash, registering a new personal best with a time of 7.60 to become 6th in program history. She finished third overall.” Nicholas also achieved another top-10 mark for FAU in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.58.

“Richelle Williams finished third in the 60-meter dash open, finishing with a time of 7.95.” Williams also placed among the top 30 runners out of 116 participants in the open section of the 200-meter dash.

“Out of 156 runners in the 800-meter run open,” Rosa ten Berg “placed seventh overall with a time of 2:10.72.”

Other notable competitors included Sophie Dethier, Reese Anderson and Morgan Pennington representing FAU in the mile open; freshman Madison Brown running in the open section of the 3000 meters; and Andi VanMeter closing out competition for FAU in the open section of the 5000 meters.
