The Florida Atlantic University women’s track and field team concluded competition at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State on March 27. The Owls participated in two events during the meet.

The event matters as it provided an opportunity for athletes to compete early in the outdoor season and establish marks for future meets. It also allowed newcomers to gain experience representing Florida Atlantic.

Teegan Anderson and Sophie Dethier competed in the 1500-meter race, with Anderson finishing first among Owls runners with a time of 4:31.53 in her debut appearance in this event for Florida Atlantic. This performance moved Anderson to number four all-time in the program’s top-10 record book for this distance. Dethier recorded a time of 4:49.97 in her first outdoor season race at this distance.

Junior Jessica Hatch ran her first meet of the season, participating in the 3000-meter steeplechase and finishing with a time of 10:48.77.

Looking ahead, other members of the team are scheduled to compete at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational on Saturday, March 28, in Coral Gables. The meet will be broadcast on ACCNX.
