Florida Atlantic women’s tennis falls to UCF in Orlando

The Florida Atlantic University women’s tennis team was defeated by the University of Central Florida (UCF) with a score of 4-0 in Orlando on Friday night. This result puts FAU’s season record at 3-4, while UCF advances to 6-1.

During doubles play, FAU tried new pairings. Lara Smejkal and Panna Bartha secured a 6-2 victory on court one. However, UCF won court three, and then clinched the doubles point by taking court two with a 7-5 win.

In singles matches, UCF quickly took control. The Knights earned a straight-set win on court three and added another victory less than 15 minutes later to go up 3-0. The match was decided when UCF clinched the fourth point on court five, ending the contest while three courts were still active.

Looking ahead, FAU will host Princeton on Sunday. Fans can follow the match through live statistics online. The last time these teams played was March 18, 2018, when FAU won 4-2.

FAU’s schedule continues with matches in Tampa from February 28 to March 1. They will face Charlotte at a neutral site before playing against USF on March 1 at 11 a.m., with that match available for viewing on Playsight.
