The Florida Atlantic University women’s tennis team lost to Harvard by a score of 4-2 on March 21 at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center in Boca Raton, Florida. The defeat brings FAU’s season record to 5-8, while Harvard improves to 10-5.

The match was closely contested and lasted nearly four hours. The Owls dropped the doubles point after losses on courts one and three, with court two left unfinished at five games each. In singles play, FAU redshirt freshman Katrin Pavkova secured the team’s first point with a straight-set win, leveling the overall score at 1-1. However, Harvard regained the lead with a victory on the top singles court and extended it further before FAU freshman Alexia Patru won her match on court five.

With the score at 3-2 in favor of Harvard, attention turned to court two where a third-set tiebreaker was underway. Harvard clinched the match by winning that tiebreaker. The final singles contest on court six was abandoned during its third set as the overall result had been decided.

The official order of finish for singles matches was courts four, one, three, five, and two; for doubles it was courts three and one. The match began at 11 a.m. and lasted three hours and forty minutes.

Looking ahead, Florida Atlantic is scheduled to host Delaware on Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m., with all home matches free and open to the public.
