Florida Atlantic women’s golf stands seventh after first day at Reynolds Lake Oconee Invite

Florida Atlantic University’s women’s golf team is in seventh place after the first day of play at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invite, hosted by Mercer University in Greensboro, Georgia. The Owls finished Friday with a team score of +17. UNC-Greensboro currently leads the tournament at two under par.

The second round was interrupted and later suspended due to darkness following a weather delay earlier in the day. Tournament organizers plan to resume round two on Saturday afternoon, depending on further weather conditions expected in Middle Georgia. The final round will begin immediately after completion of the second round.

Nancy Cox led Florida Atlantic on Friday, opening with a 74 and standing at one under par through 12 holes in her second round. This performance has placed her in solo 10th position overall.

Carolin Alblas contributed four birdies during the second round, helping the Owls move up five spots on the leaderboard. After an initial score of 79, Alblas is two under par with five holes remaining in her second round and has climbed 28 places into a tie for 31st.

Tina Genoulaz (tied for 31st) and Charlotte Perkins (47th) have also improved their standings as they approach the end of their respective rounds; both are even-par late in their second rounds.

The current individual scores for FAU are: Nancy Cox (+1), Carolin Alblas (+5), Tina Genoulaz (+5), Charlotte Perkins (+8), and Giulia Scarcello (+10).

Round two is scheduled to resume at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
