Florida Atlantic women’s golf sits fourth after opening round at Paradise Invitational

Florida Atlantic University’s women’s golf team finished the first day of the Paradise Invitational in fourth place, with a team score of seven over par. The tournament, presented by CIEE Golf is Global, began on an unusually cold and windy Monday in Boca Raton, where temperatures started in the 40s. Kentucky currently leads the field at even par.

Nancy Cox and Tina Genoulaz were the top performers for Florida Atlantic, each posting a score of 73 (+1) after 18 holes. Cox completed her opening nine holes at even par, balancing two bogeys with two birdies. On her second nine, she recorded eight pars and one bogey. Genoulaz went out in 38 but improved on her back nine with three birdies for a 35.

Both Cox and Genoulaz are four strokes behind the tournament leaders from Tennessee, Madison Messimer and Karoline Tuttle, who each finished at three under par.

Round two tee times have been set for Tuesday morning, beginning at 9:45 a.m. with Carolin Alblas (+5), followed by Maddie Rathjen (+3), Giulia Scarcello (individual, +2), Charlotte Perkins (+2), Nancy Cox (+1), Tina Genoulaz (+1), and Amelia Cobb (individual, +13).
