Following an undefeated start to the 2026 season, the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) softball team has earned national recognition in several major polls. The Owls are ranked No. 23 in both the NFCA/GoRout and Softball America polls, and hold the No. 25 spot in the D1Softball Top 25 rankings. They are also receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll.

The team began its season with a 5-0 record, including victories over Big Ten teams Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. Their opening game was an 8-0 win against Indiana that ended after five innings due to the run-rule. This was followed by a 10-6 win over Ohio State and a close 4-3 victory against Wisconsin.

FAU is currently the highest-ranked program outside of schools from the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, or ACC conferences. Head Coach Jordan Clark is now in her fourth season leading FAU and has guided the team to a combined record of 9-3 against teams from those power conferences over the past two seasons.

Looking ahead, Florida Atlantic will compete at the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational this weekend. Their first matchup is scheduled for Friday, February 13 at 4 p.m., when they face Texas Tech, which holds a consensus No. 1 national ranking. Later that day at 7 p.m., FAU will play Florida State—ranked as high as No. 5—and then take on No. 2 Tennessee on Saturday at noon.
