Florida Atlantic University freshman pitcher Garrett Grant was named an American Conference weekly honorable mention, the league announced on Mar. 9. This marks Grant’s first career conference recognition and follows teammate Nick Romano, who received the same honor the previous week.
The recognition highlights Grant’s performance in Sunday’s series finale against FIU, where he pitched seven scoreless innings to secure his first collegiate win. During the game, Grant allowed five hits, matched his career high with five strikeouts, and issued only one walk. Over his first 18.2 innings this season, he has given up just two runs and holds a 0.96 earned run average.
The Florida Atlantic Owls currently have a record of 9-6 as they continue their non-conference schedule. The team is set to play a two-game midweek series against Presbyterian on Tuesday and Wednesday at FAU Baseball Stadium, with Tuesday’s game scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
