The Florida Atlantic University women’s track and field team will participate in the American Conference Indoor Championship from February 27 to 28 at the Birmingham Crossplex. The event will be broadcast on ESPN+.
This marks the team’s third appearance in the American Conference Indoor Championship. Senior Rosa ten Berg enters the postseason as the top-ranked runner in the conference for the 800-meter run. The Owls have added ten new entries to their program’s top-10 record book during this indoor season and are set to compete in eight events: 1-mile run, 400-meter dash, 60-meter dash, 800-meter run, 200-meter dash, Distance Medley Relay, 3000-meter run, and 4×400-meter medley relay.
Teams competing alongside Florida Atlantic include Charlotte, East Carolina, Memphis, North Texas, Rice, South Florida, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB, UTSA and Wichita State.
At their previous meet—the Gainesville Indoor Classic—Jada Bolhuis was first among FAU athletes in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.27 seconds and finished thirteenth overall. In the mile race, Anabell Reumann placed third (5:00.56) while Madison Brown took fifth (5:05.46). Rosa ten Berg improved her own second-best mark in school history for the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.86; Adrianna Mier entered the record book at eighth all-time with a time of 2:13.24 in that event.
Freshman Sophie Dethier competed in her first collegiate indoor race for FAU in the same event and finished seventh overall (2:17.81). Senior Camilla Nicholas set both a personal best and program record by running a time of 7.53 seconds in the 60-meter dash; she now ranks fourth all-time at FAU for this event.
Laura Kuhn achieved her season best by finishing third overall in the 600 meters (1:41.26). The team of Bolhuis, Richelle Williams, Nicholas and Joelle White secured third place in the meet’s 4×400 relay with a combined time of 3:52.03.
In addition to individual performances at Gainesville Indoor Classic:
“In the DMR,” according to official results provided by FAU Athletics staffers,“ten Berg, Kuhn, Mier and Teegan Anderson ran an 11:53.23 to place themselves as No.4 in program history.”
