Florida Atlantic University’s baseball team will host the Missouri Tigers on Tuesday evening in Boca Raton, marking the first of eight midweek home games for the Owls this season. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Owls began their season with a three-game series against Notre Dame, finishing with one win and two losses. In the opening game, John Martinez and Ian Collier each hit home runs, while Martinez also added a double and four RBI. Pitcher James Litman achieved a personal best by striking out nine batters over four innings. Relief pitchers Kide Adetuyi, Carson Kimball, and Bryan Boully combined to keep Notre Dame scoreless over the last five innings of that game.
On Saturday, Florida Atlantic managed only one run—an inside-the-park home run by Michael Perazza. Sunday’s effort saw Brett Patten and Ian Collier each collect two hits.
Martinez ended the series with five RBI, while Patten recorded four hits in twelve at-bats across the three games. Adetuyi is set to start on the mound against Missouri after pitching three scoreless innings in relief during Friday’s contest and recording a career-high five strikeouts.
Missouri comes into Tuesday’s matchup following a 2-1 series win over Mount St. Mary’s. Their performance included a notable 34-3 victory on Sunday, where they scored all their runs after trailing early in the game. Tyler Macon leads Missouri offensively with seven hits and nine RBI so far this season.
Florida Atlantic and Missouri have faced each other once before; Missouri won that meeting 4-2 in February 2010 during a tournament hosted by Auburn University in Alabama.
Following Tuesday’s game, Florida Atlantic will remain at home for a three-game series against Iowa starting Friday night.
