Florida Atlantic men’s tennis loses to Penn; next faces Tulsa and Tulane

Florida Atlantic University’s men’s tennis team lost 4-0 to the University of Pennsylvania in a road match on Sunday in Philadelphia. This result leaves the Owls with a season record of 4-4, while the Quakers improve to 9-3.

The match began with doubles play. FAU’s top pair, Mark Havlicek and Marek Pazdera, who are ranked No. 82 nationally, were defeated by UPenn’s No. 6-ranked duo Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler with a score of 6-4. On court two, Simon Myslivec and Segundo Goity Zapico secured a win for FAU with a 6-2 victory. However, UPenn claimed the doubles point after their team won on court three.

In singles competition, UPenn extended its lead by winning matches on courts one and two in straight sets. The Quakers also came from behind to secure a three-set win on court six, clinching the overall victory at 4-0.

The Owls will continue their four-match road trip with an upcoming game against Tulsa in Oklahoma on March 3 at 1 p.m., which will be broadcast on ESPN+. It will be the first meeting between these teams despite both being members of the American Conference.

After Tulsa, Florida Atlantic will travel to Tulane for another non-conference match scheduled for March 5 at 2 p.m., aiming to break last year’s tie in their all-time series.

Following this road stretch, the Owls are set to return home for matches against Utah State on March 10, Rice on March 13, Old Dominion on March 15, and East Tennessee State on March 18 at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.
