Florida Atlantic University’s men’s tennis team lost 5-2 to Tulsa on Tuesday afternoon in Oklahoma. The match was part of a four-game road series for the Owls and was played as a non-conference contest between two American Conference members.

Following this result, Florida Atlantic’s record stands at 4-5 for the season, while Tulsa improved to 9-8.

Tulsa secured an early advantage by winning doubles court #3. However, Florida Atlantic responded with Mark Havlicek and Marek Pazdera taking court #1. The deciding doubles point came down to court #2, where Segundo Goity Zapico and Simon Myslivec won a tiebreaker 7-6 (9-7), giving FAU the opening point.

In singles play, Tulsa quickly claimed victories on four courts to clinch the overall win. Despite the deficit, both teams played out all matches, allowing FAU sophomore Jan Kusy to earn a win on court #5.

The detailed results were as follows:

In doubles:
– Mark Havlicek / Marek Pazdera (FAU) defeated Calum Jestin / Connor Doig (Tulsa) 6-4
– Segundo Goity Zapico / Simon Myslivec (FAU) defeated Nikita Volonski / Timo Carlsson Seger (Tulsa) 7-6(9-7)
– Victor Tosetto / Gus Tettamble (Tulsa) defeated Vanja Hodzic / Lucca Pignaton (FAU) 6-3

In singles:
– Nikita Volonski (Tulsa) defeated Mark Havlicek (FAU) 7-6(7-5), 6-3
– Timo Carlsson Seger (Tulsa) defeated Segundo Goity Zapico (FAU)
– Takeshi Taco (Tulsa) defeated Simon Myslivec (FAU) 6-1, 7-6(7-1)
– Connor Doig (Tulsa) defeated Marek Pazdera (FAU) 4-6, 6-1, 6-2
– Jan Kusy (FAU) defeated Ruben Fernandez (Tulsa) 6-3, 4-6, 6-4
– Victor Tosetto (Tulsa) defeated Vanja Hodzic (FAU) 6-0, 7-5

Looking ahead, Florida Atlantic will finish its road trip against Tulane on Thursday in another non-conference matchup scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. Last year, FAU tied the all-time series with Tulane at two wins each after a victory in Boca Raton.

The Owls are set to return home soon and will host Utah State on March 10, Rice on March 13, Old Dominion on March 15, and East Tennessee State on March 18 at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center.
