The Florida Atlantic University men’s tennis team lost a closely contested match to Memphis by a score of 4-3 on March 22. The match, held at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center in Boca Raton, saw several lead changes before Memphis secured the final point.

This result leaves the Owls with a season record of 7-10, while Memphis, ranked No. 54 nationally, improves to 8-10. The contest was the fifth for Florida Atlantic in just eight days and marked their fourth matchup against a top-75 opponent during that stretch.

Florida Atlantic started strong by winning doubles matches on courts one and three and holding an advantage in the tiebreaker on court two before moving into singles play. In singles, sophomore Marek Pazdera gave FAU an early edge with a straight-set win on court two, but Memphis quickly responded by taking court three to even the score at 2-2. Lucca Pignaton then put FAU ahead again with a victory on court five, but Memphis rallied to win the remaining matches and clinch the overall win.

The detailed results included wins for Mark Havlicek and Marek Pazdera as well as Lucca Acioly and Simon Myslivec in doubles play for FAU. In singles competition, Pazdera and Pignaton each recorded victories for Florida Atlantic.

With only three matches left in their regular season schedule—all at home—the Owls are set to host Delaware on Thursday, March 26 at noon. They will then face No. 63 Liberty on Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m., followed by their final regular season match against another opponent on Sunday, April 5 at 11 a.m.
