Florida Atlantic University’s men’s golf team is set to compete in the Gator Invitational this weekend in Gainesville, Florida. The tournament begins Saturday and will include 36 holes on the first day and 18 holes on Sunday. This event marks the second of six tournaments that will lead up to the American Conference Championship scheduled for late April.
The Owls are making a change to their lineup compared to their spring opener in Jacksonville two weeks ago. Jack Brugman joins as the fifth player, while NaShawn Tyson, who tied for sixth place at the previous event, leads the team in the top spot. The rest of the starting five includes Biagio Gagliardi, Louka Morin, and Guilherme Grinberg. The opening round starts with a staggered shotgun format at 7:20 a.m., with Florida Atlantic grouped alongside UCF and Furman.
The tournament will be held at Mark Bostick Golf Course, which plays as a par 70 over 6,701 yards. This year marks the 49th consecutive edition of the Gator Invitational, tying it for the sixth-longest running event in Division I men’s golf.
Eighteen teams are participating this week, including recent NCAA National Champions. Teams in attendance include Auburn (ranked No. 2), Charlotte (No. 20), Florida (No. 10), Notre Dame (No. 21), Oklahoma State (No. 12), and others such as Chattanooga, FGCU, Furman, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Jacksonville, Liberty, Penn State, UCF, UNF, USF, West Virginia and Florida Atlantic itself.
