The Florida Atlantic men’s basketball team ended its 2025-26 season with an 18-15 record and a 9-9 mark in the American Conference, according to a March 23 announcement. This marks the second consecutive year under Head Coach John Jakus that the team has achieved at least 18 wins.

The team’s performance places it among the top five finishes in program history and continues a streak of six straight seasons with records above .500 in conference play. For Jakus, this achievement is notable as he became the first coach in school history to secure more than 18 wins in each of his first two seasons leading the Owls. He is also recognized as “the only one in program history to produce multiple conference Freshman of the Year and Most Improved Players.”

Over the last four years, Florida Atlantic has compiled a record of 96-44, ranking among the top thirty most successful programs nationally during that period. The team notes that “20% of FAU’s all-time wins have come in the span of the last four years,” marking this stretch as its most successful four-year run.

Freshman guard Josiah Parker received recognition throughout the season, earning seven freshman of the week awards and being named “the 2026 American Freshman of the Year.” Parker set single-game highs for points by an Owl freshman since 2019 and rebounds by any Owl since Vladislav Goldin’s performance in 2023. He finished his regular season with six double-doubles and led all Owls freshmen with several statistical achievements.

Devin Vanterpool was named “the American’s Most Improved Player” and selected for third-team all-conference honors after starting twenty-four games. The redshirt sophomore averaged a team-leading fifteen point eight points per game along with thirty-seven steals, becoming “the only Owl to register thirty points in a game this season.” Vanterpool recorded eight games scoring more than twenty points.

Defensively, redshirt sophomore forward Devin Williams helped set a new school record for blocked shots at one hundred seventy-seven for the season. Williams ranked sixth nationally for blocks per game at two point five eight and seventh overall for total blocks with eighty-five.

The Owls also achieved fourth place in program history for total points scored (2,596), made field goals (932), and rebounds (1,279) during this campaign.
