Florida Atlantic hosts Tulsa for annual Play4Kay women’s basketball matchup

The Florida Atlantic Owls women’s basketball team will host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Saturday, February 14, at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena in Boca Raton. The annual Play4Kay game is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Florida Atlantic enters the matchup with an 11-13 overall record and a 5-7 mark in American Athletic Conference play. The Owls are currently ranked eighth in the conference and have won their last two games, including a recent overtime victory against Wichita State, 79-77. Erin Rodgers leads the team with an average of 10.1 points per game, while Vivian Onugha, Grace Carstensen, and Jess Moors contribute 8.9, 8.2, and 8.0 points per game respectively. Carstensen leads in three-pointers made (52) and holds a .416 three-point percentage, which is third best in the conference.

Haley Walker is the team’s top rebounder with an average of 6.4 rebounds per game, followed by Onugha at 6.1 boards per contest. Moors leads Florida Atlantic in assists (2.8 per game) and steals (1.8 per game). Madi Gewirtz records an average of 1.1 blocks per game, ranking fourth in the conference.

Former Owl Brittany Bowe is currently competing in her fourth Winter Olympic Games as a speed skater in the 1,000m, 1,500m, and Women’s Team Pursuit events.

Tulsa comes into Saturday’s contest with a record of 16-8 overall and an 8-4 standing in conference play but has lost its last two games to UTSA and South Florida. Madi Cartwright leads Tulsa offensively with an average of 15.7 points per game; Hannah Riddick follows closely at 15 points per contest and also leads the team with an average of 6.8 rebounds per game.

Tulsa holds a historical advantage over Florida Atlantic with four wins to one in their all-time series; FAU has yet to win at home against Tulsa (0-2). In their most recent meeting on January 27 this year, Tulsa won by a score of 77-58.

After Saturday’s home game, Florida Atlantic will travel to face East Carolina on Tuesday at Minges Coliseum.
