The Florida Atlantic University (FAU) beach volleyball team, ranked No. 15 nationally, will compete in the Chanticleer Challenge this weekend in Conway, South Carolina. The tournament takes place at the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball Complex on March 6 and 7.
FAU’s schedule includes matches against Tulane and host Coastal Carolina on Friday, followed by games against No. 4 Cal Poly and Georgia State on Saturday.
The Owls are entering the tournament with a 7-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in Conference USA play. Last weekend, they secured three wins out of four matches, including their first victory over a ranked opponent this season—No. 16 North Florida—along with wins against UNC Wilmington and FGCU.
Friday’s opening match at 8 a.m. pairs FAU with Tulane, a familiar conference rival. The Owls have an all-time record of 11-4 against Tulane and are aiming to extend their current two-match winning streak in this matchup. Later that day at noon, FAU faces off against Coastal Carolina; they lead the series with three wins to one loss and recently defeated the Chanticleers during the season-opening Beach Burrow Bash.
On Saturday morning at 10 a.m., FAU meets No. 4 Cal Poly for the first time in program history. Their final contest of the weekend is scheduled for 2 p.m. against Georgia State, who holds a narrow lead over FAU in their all-time meetings with twelve wins to eleven.
