Florida Atlantic baseball will return home on April 1 to begin a three-game series against the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The first game is scheduled for Thursday night at 6:30 p.m., with subsequent games on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. All games will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
The matchup is significant as both teams look to improve their standings in the American Conference, with Florida Atlantic holding a record of 15-14 overall and UAB coming in at 19-10. For fans attending Thursday’s opener, there will be special promotions including $1 hot dogs and $2 beers while supplies last.
Recent performances have seen Dalton Robinson making his second consecutive midweek start, allowing three runs over four innings against FIU. In last weekend’s series versus Rice, Nick Romano went five-for-twelve with two runs batted in, while Michael Perazza was four-for-eleven with three RBIs. The Owls scored all six runs in Friday’s win without any balls leaving the infield.
Ian Collier contributed a home run and a sacrifice fly during Saturday’s game, while Eli Small hit a solo homer on Sunday. Pitchers James Litman, Kide Adetuyi, and Zach Kilby combined to allow six runs across nearly seventeen innings over the course of those games.
In recent play over the last ten games, Perazza has been particularly effective offensively and Kilby has posted an earned run average of just 1.35 across five appearances.
UAB arrives following a six-game winning streak and leads the conference with forty-seven home runs this season—thirteen by John Paul Head alone—and recently shut out North Alabama by ten runs in seven innings.
Historically, visiting teams have had success when these programs meet; Florida Atlantic won two out of three matchups last season in Birmingham but UAB has taken four out of the last six contests played in Boca Raton.
After this series concludes, Florida Atlantic will next play Memphis beginning April 10 following an open midweek.
