Florida Atlantic baseball will begin a two-game series against Presbyterian starting Tuesday, March 9, following a sweep of FIU. The first game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with the second set for Wednesday at 4:05 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FAUSports.com.
The Owls currently hold a record of 9-6 and have won six of their last seven games. Their recent performance includes an offensive average of nine runs per game over the past seven contests. On Friday, James Litman achieved a personal best with 10 strikeouts in a complete seven-inning game. Freshman Garrett Grant was recognized as an American Conference weekly honorable mention after pitching seven shutout innings in Sunday’s win over FIU.
Several players have contributed to the team’s recent success. Marshall Lipsey finished the FIU series going 9-for-15 at bat, including a home run and four runs batted in, tying his career high with four hits during Saturday’s extra-inning victory. Nick Romano recorded seven hits in fourteen at-bats against FIU and has accumulated six multi-hit games this season. John Martinez leads the team with 13 runs batted in and has posted seven multi-hit games so far.
Presbyterian enters the series with a record of 2-14, having started the season with two wins before losing their next fourteen games. The Blue Hose are led by Head Coach Elton Pollock, who is now in his 26th season. This week marks the first meeting between Florida Atlantic and Presbyterian in program history.
After this midweek series, Florida Atlantic will conclude its early-season non-conference schedule with three games against UMBC beginning Friday night at FAU Baseball Stadium. The team will then start American Conference play at home against No. 24 UTSA from March 20 to March 22.
