Florida Atlantic University alumnus Federico Maranges will be part of Super Bowl LX as a member of the Seattle Seahawks practice squad. Maranges, who played for the Owls from 2019 to 2024, is now among nine former Florida Atlantic players to appear on a Super Bowl roster since the football program began 25 years ago.
During his time at Florida Atlantic, Maranges was recognized for both his athletic and academic achievements. He served as team captain and contributed to a conference championship win. Academically, he earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and biology with a minor in psychology before completing a master’s in biomedical sciences. Maranges also led the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for three terms.
Maranges joins a group of Florida Atlantic alumni who have reached the Super Bowl stage. Previous participants include Sharrod Neasman (Atlanta Falcons, Super Bowl LI), Keith Reaser (Kansas City Chiefs, reserve/IR, Super Bowl LIV), Azeez Al-Shaair (San Francisco 49ers, Super Bowl LIV), John Franklin III (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reserve/IR, Super Bowl LV), Greg Joseph (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, practice squad, Super Bowl LV), Herb Miller (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, practice squad, Super Bowl LV), Buddy Howell (Los Angeles Rams, Super Bowl LVI), Sharrod Neasman again with the Rams (practice squad/IR), and Trey Hendrickson (Cincinnati Bengals, Super Bowl LVI). Of these players, six have won titles.
Florida Atlantic’s football program has seen 60 alumni sign NFL contracts over its history.
