Fifteen Florida Atlantic beach volleyball players named to CUSA Honor Roll

Florida Atlantic University announced on April 4 that 15 student-athletes from its beach volleyball team have been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll, with seven of those also receiving the CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Medal.

The recognition highlights academic achievement among student-athletes. To qualify for the Commissioner’s Academic Medal, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.75 and complete at least one academic semester during spring or fall of 2025. The Honor Roll requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 over the same period.

The seven Sandy Owls who earned the Academic Medal are Kendall Mignerey, Denisse Morgenstern, Mia Scanlon, Maddie Sides, Kate Stoughton, Olivia Strandberg, and Klaire VanDeusen. All seven were also included in the group recognized on the Honor Roll.

In total, fifteen athletes made it onto the CUSA Commissioner’s Honor Roll: Sofia Connor, Reese Edwards, Cameron Knifton, Ava Koehl, Mignerey, Morgenstern, Scanlon, Sides, Allison Spittal, Shantel Starling, Stoughton, Strandberg, Bailey Thompson, VanDeusen and Shayna Wolf.

Across Conference USA schools this year there were 3,725 student-athletes named to the Honor Roll and 1,306 who received Academic Medals for their achievements in balancing athletics with academics.

Currently holding a season record of 13-11 according to Florida Atlantic University’s announcement on April 4th ,the Sandy Owls are preparing to host FGCU (Florida Gulf Coast University), Jacksonville University , North Florida ,and Stephen F. Austin State University for their Capri Classic tournament scheduled for April 10-11.
