Autumn Courtney, a senior pitcher for the Florida Atlantic softball team, was named Amateur Athlete of the Year by the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame on March 16.
The award highlights Courtney’s achievements in collegiate softball and marks the second consecutive year that a Florida Atlantic University (FAU) softball player has received this honor. Last year, Trinity Schlotterbeck earned the same recognition.
Courtney was selected as the winner among three finalists at the 49th Annual Palm Beach County Sport Hall of Fame Awards Celebration held at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. She surpassed Keiser men’s swimmer Isaiah Aleksenko and Lynn men’s soccer player Dominik N’gaite for the distinction. Since joining FAU for the 2025 season, Courtney became only the fifth All-American in program history. She finished nationally ranked among the top 40 in several categories: earned run average (2.03, No. 31), strikeouts (172, No. 31), and wins (24, No. 14). Opposing batters hit just .164 against her.
Her record included a 24-4 win-loss mark and 12 complete games, helping lead FAU to its second-straight American Conference regular season title and an NCAA Regional appearance. She was also unanimously voted as Pitcher of the Year in her league.
Some of Courtney’s standout performances over the past year include striking out 12 batters while allowing just one hit against Kansas in her debut with FAU, recording 13 strikeouts against Georgia State, giving up only one hit with no earned runs in a Conference Semifinal game versus South Florida, and earning a victory with seven strikeouts during an NCAA Regional win over Georgia Tech.
Courtney continues to lead FAU’s pitching staff this season with nine wins and 59 strikeouts.
